Team Concept Objectives

1. Define a team and explain its benefits.
   A team is group of people who accomplish goals. the benefits are you get work done quickly and you can gain communicative skills
2.  Describe six types of work groups and give an application of each type.
   Department or Functional groups- responsible for an array of work, they possess similar skills apllications can be paying bills
   Committees- like functional groups but they possess different skills. they investigate, advise, and report findings
   Task force- Brings together many different skills from several departments to develop a solution. there are two departments.
  Process Improvement-like a task force in that it is usually made up of people from different departments and is charged with solving a problem.
  Working Group- Is similar to a committee in how it functions. made up of employees from different companies to look at an industry-wide problem or issue.
   Teams- is the traditional task force
3. describe the five characteistics of a successful team.
   Purpose-  is measurable and defines any constraints or expected results
   Commitment- individuals who stick with the group to the  end, and they accept the task at hands
    Process- method used by teams to fufill the purpose.
    Communication- most valuable asset in a team: have meetings, solution logs, e-mails, e.t.c.
    Trust and Respect- the fundamental  to creating  an environment where the results of the team will truly be more than what  indivduals members could accomplish.
4. Describe the basic structure of a team.
   the basic structure of a team  is the leader and the employees. if the leader is good then you ngot a goood team. also good communication skills.
5. Describe positive and negative team member behaviors.
    Negative would be a member that is lazy or bring other team members down
    Positive  team member is somebody who likes to work, encourage others and has good communciative skills.
6. Describe a six-step problem solving process.
   1. Define the problem- define the goal
   2. Collect data- collect of research information about the problem
   3. Create possibele solutions- basically making examples
   4. Choosing a solution- choose he best example
   5. implement the solution- make or perform the solutions
   6. test the solutions
7. describe three idea generation Methods
     Brainstorming is basically you generating ideas with your team.
     Flow Charts- is a graphic, or pictorial, method of showing the steps in a process.
     fishbone diagrams- is a method of organizing potential causes of a problem.
8. Describe how to perform brainstorming.
    There are five steps to brainstorming. first you assign responsibilties to your team. after you do that then you choose the task. then you start identifying ideas. next you record all ideas. last you organize the ideas.
9. Describe five decision-making procedures and give an advantage of each.
    Majority rule- basically more votes than the other the advantage is that its democracy.
    Minority rule- basically the people who have more knowledge on the assignment then you. there the leaders.
    autocracy- only one person make the decision.
    Unanimity- All team members must vote for the same thing.
10. Describe how a team reaches an agreement through consensus.
      well first they give some ideas. then briefly go over so that everybody can understand it. then we make a decision.
11. Describe eight consensus team guidelines.
      eight consensus team should help your team be more successful. you should have a backup plan, make sure all choices support teammates.
